Foundation of UBHAS
The North Indians living in Lagos, always felt the need of an organization which could represent them socially and could promote the feeling of cohesiveness among themselves.

Thus in 1999, by the joint, untiring efforts of Somesh Rastogi and Ravitosh Shukla, UBHAS (UTTAR BHARAT SEVA SAMAJ) came into existence.

Somesh Rastogi

It was created to represent the North Indian States of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarranchal, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. It was to bring closer the North Indians of these states and to interact with them through their unique culture and language. The residents of these states were considered eligible for the membership of the organization.

On 29th of August the first ever non official meeting of UBHAS took place at Geeta Mandir, Illupeju, leaded by the founders: Sri Shukla and Sri Rastogi, where the basic outline of UBHAS were discussed. Finally UBHAS came into existence after the joint acceptance of 28 members present at the meeting.

The first ever General Meeting of UBHAS took place on 29th September 1999, when the first Executive Committee was elected to the office. Since then UBHAS has been conducting AGM and election for the Executive Committee Members.

2001 : Sri Lt Col. Lohumi
2002 : Sri V.K. Singh
2003 : Sri Lt Col. Lohumi [Re-elected because of his untiring efforts to upbring UBHAS]

Since then UBHAS is growing every day. It has completed 4 years in August. UBHAS got its face lifted enormously during the tenure of Colonel Lohumi’s Presidentship. Col. Lohumi, Sri Choudhury Ashar Zia and Sri Sanjay Kamboj have put on their best for UBHAS.

Till date, UBHAS has grown to a strength of 135 members.

1. To uplift the use 'Hindi' language as much as possible.

2. To nourish the unique North Indian Culture in Nigeria.

3. To interact with Local Community and exhange Cultural Values.

4. To help the Members in unforeseen/emergency situations to the best possible.
